The other night, I was desperately trying to convince Josh that we needed movie theater popcorn. I was craving it and I just so happen to be a popcorn snob and don't think that microwave popcorn (even with the salts and 'movie butter' from the store) is anywhere near as delicious as actual movie theater popcorn. Josh, however, has a hard time justifying the over-priced treat when we aren't actually seeing a movie. Eventually, I convinced him to splurge (he was very sweet about it) but not until after we exchanged a number of back and forth jabs (in jest) at each other.
------
Leslie: (In a melodramatic tone) "::sigh:: and so the spender fell in love with the saver."
Josh: (defensively) "and so the SAVER fell in love with the SPENDER."
Leslie: "And so the extrovert fell in love with the introvert."
Josh: "And so the organized one fell in love with the cluttered one."
Leslie: "And so the fun person fell in love with the person who likes to stay home all the time."
Josh: "and so the person who takes good care of expensive things fell in love with the person who drops things all the time."
Leslie: "and so the person who shaves regularly fell in love with the man with a scruffy beard."
Josh: "and so the person who likes to eat healthy fell in love with the person whose eating habits resemble an unattended 8 year old."
Leslie: "And so the person who puts great effort into making people feel comfortable in social settings fell in love with the person who deliberately makes people feel awkward."
------
And so our giggly conversation spiraled down that route for a few minutes. It was one of those moments where we could laugh over our differences instead of get annoyed at them (which is a lot more fun, yeah?).
The more couples I get to know, the more I realize that we aren't the only ones who married people who are, in a lot of ways, our opposites. If only we could learn to celebrate and enjoy the differences in our spouses more often than see the frustrations in them, I think we would all be a little better off!
A visual representation of the spender/saver from last night. On the left: the $170 Josh saved in spare change. On the right: the $5 that I saved. Hilarious. |
Hehe! This makes me laugh! We were just laughing about how I HAVE to pick up the house in the morning, even if I'm not going to be in that room. Haha! Jonathan just doesn't understand it. Oh differences! It is good to remember to laugh at them instead of get annoyed though!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Y'all are too funny. :)

This post honestly made me laugh. It hits close to home as well since my fiance and I are quite different! (No surprise that I'm the spender and he's the saver.)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Love you guys! (And I TOTALLy agree about movie popcorn. Seriously, how much more alike could we be?! Scary. Scary-cool!)
